THOUGHTS: ETERNAL SUNSHINE

You better run. You better hide because the Princess of Pop is well and truly back.

In what I can only describe as a dreamy masterpiece, Ariana Grande has once again delivered.

The whole world was against her, rent was due, the ponytail was thinning so she had no choice but to deliver.

Bubble gum pop is cute but what we’ve been missing is a mature body of work that tells a story of love and loss and that is what Eternal Sunshine is.

Do you know that rumour that Beyonce kept Sia in her basement to write songs? Well, I’m going to need Ariana to lock Max Martin in her basement and throw away the key because every time he works with Ariana or any of the other pop girlies it EATS.

In a world of wannabe Olivia Rodrigo’s releasing songs under 2 minutes that sound like nursery rhymes, Ariana is out here carving out a legacy as true ARTISTE.

Not all singers are performers and not all performers are singers. And how many singers or performers can call themselves producers? Not that many.

Well Ariana can call herself Ariana SINGER-PERFORMER-PRODUCER-PONYTAIL Grande. Do you know how SICK you have to be to constantly outdo yourself UGHHHHHH.

She never ever misses when it comes to music, I just know her shoulders are killing her from having to carry the weight of being THAT BITCHHHH.

I haven’t felt this connected to and excited for an album’s release in a very long time and the three-year wait was worth it.

I’m not going to lie, I hate it when artists hit us with the “I’m going to let the music speaks for itself… yapa yapa blah blah blah”, when it’s time to address rumours about their personal lives.

It’s not because I’m nosey and want the full tea.

Jk obviously I want the tea.

It's because I am lazy. Do I look like Dora the Explorer? Do I want to sit there deciphering every single song on your album like I’m in The Da Vinci Code?

No.

I will not.

I’ll just wait for the stans to do it.

But in the case of Ariana, the music really and truly spoke for itself.

I’m convinced she released ‘Yes, and?’ as the first single to throw us off, it’s the weakest song on the album. She wanted us to doubt her.

She really said let me gag them.

The one word that came to mind when listening to the album was HEALING.

Whilst the rest of us are focused on unbig-ing our backs, Ariana is on a journey to rediscover her relationship with fame and music.

Having the entire world speculate on why your marriage ended and have an opinion on your personal life sounds like complete hell. Especially when all that is happening whilst you're working on the project of your dreams. Whether it's the way she looks or how she talks there's always a conversation happening about her. Eternal Sunshine was Ariana telling you all to shut the hell up.

There were a few times last year that I wished she channelled the energy of Azealia Banks to clear her name.

Nothing scares a bitch into silence like the threat of being cursed.

Everyone and their mothers, suddenly had an opinion on Ariana’s personal life, calling her every misogynistic and sexist name under the sun.  She can do no wrong in my eyes.

Come to me once you’ve released 7 back-to-back albums of pop perfection.

So far, the visuals are cute, with Ariana releasing a music video for ‘We can’t Be Friends’ starring Evan Peters and she's also revealed plans to release more videos.  Praying that none of the music videos that Ariana films for the album are directed by Hannah Lux Davis.

God please.

I love the fact that Ariana’s Nonna makes an appearance on the track ‘Ordinary Things’. It gives the album an even more personal touch.

Nonna is the world's first nepo-nanny and I’m here for it. GET YOUR COIN NONNA.

I feel like being related to or dating a musician must be stressful because a simple conversation that you're having with them could end up as an interlude on their album.

Imagine hearing the voicemail you sent to someone on an album .

Personally, I would ask to be credited as a feature and then I would cash the big fat cheque I would receive after threatening to sue.

Ok back to the album. My only criticism is that I wish it was longer.

My standout tracks are ‘True Story’, ‘Supernatural’, ‘We can’t be friends’ and ‘Imperfect for you’.

One thing I noticed when listening to the album is the improvement in Ariana’s diction. Whatever training they had her doing for WICKED has altered the way she sings for the better.

I feel like I can finally understand every word she's singing. Not going to lie in the past I would sit there trying to decipher what she was saying. I was out here suffering. I’m going to need Ariana to share diction training tips with SZA so I can understand what she’s singing about.

I am sick and tired of being unable to understand singers because they refuse to pronounce words properly. Sorry I can’t do it. I AM A VICTIM.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

With Eternal Sunshine, Ariana has given us just a small glimpse into her life. She has us all crying with her. I love that she’s entering a new chapter in her life and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us.
